If you spend even a few hours developing piping models or evaluating results, these simple changes are well worth a review in light of the benefits they offer in terms of time savings and comprehension.
David Diehl graduated with a BSME from Lehigh University USA in 1976. Upon graduation he took a post as a technical support representative for Auton Computing in New York City. After four years David relocated to Houston, Texas providing technical support for Auton’s Dynaflex – a mainframe-based piping system analysis program. In 1986, he took a position at CADWorx & Analysis Solutions introducing and selling CAESAR II – the world’s first PC-based pipe stress analysis package. While at CADWorx & Analysis Solutions, Dave earned his Professional Engineering license and served as the product manager for CAESAR II. He currently manages CADWorx & Analysis Solutions training and is the lead instructor for CAESAR II and the principal author of the CAESAR II on-line training course (available at www.pipingdesignonline.com). Dave joined the B31.3 Process Piping Committee in 1999. He now serves as the Vice-Chair of that committee and a prior Chair of the B31.3 Subgroup on Design. He also served 16 years on the Board of Directors for SPED – the Society of Piping Engineers and Designers.
